6. Frequently asked questions

The most common questions on STS Sherbrooke: living carless, accessibility, and Lennoxville link.

Can you really live in Sherbrooke without a car?

Yes — Sherbrooke is one of the more transit-friendly mid-sized Quebec cities.

If you live:

  • Downtown, Jacques-Cartier, or UdeS / Cégep zones: manage entirely by transit + walking + bike
  • Outlying sectors (Rock Forest, parts of Fleurimont): harder without a car

Many students and young professionals manage without a car for years.

For occasional out-of-town trips (weekend in Montréal): VIA Rail or Orléans Express offer affordable options.

Is the STS network accessible for people with reduced mobility?

Yes — over 95% of STS buses are low-floor with a front-door ramp (2026).

  • Wheelchair spaces: reserved by signage
  • Transport adapté (door-to-door): by reservation, based on medical certificate
  • Registration: 2 to 3 weeks

The main routes are accessible; some shelters and stops still lack ramps — gradual upgrade.

Which line to take from downtown to Bishop's University in Lennoxville?

The line 7 (Lennoxville) is the main one — every 20 to 30 minutes.

  • Duration: 20 to 25 minutes downtown → Bishop's
  • Express routes at peak: faster

Lennoxville also has a small local STS service connecting Bishop's to residential streets.

Bishop's students: STS pass included in registration fees (same as UdeS).

Bike alternative: campus 30 minutes by bike from downtown via the bike path along the Saint-François River.
