Frequently asked questions

Does Canada use metric or imperial?

Canada is officially metric: weather is in Celsius, distances in kilometres, groceries in grams and kilograms, gas in litres. But imperial usage lingers in daily life: people's height is often given in feet and inches, body weight in pounds, and cooking mixes both.

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit quickly?

The exact formula is °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. For a rough mental estimate: double the Celsius and add 30. For example, 20 °C ≈ 70 °F (the exact formula gives 68 °F). The shortcut is good enough to read the weather.

Why doesn't my height in feet match a round number in cm?

Because the two systems share no common reference points. 5 feet 9 inches is about 175 cm. This converter automatically shows the feet-and-inches equivalent under the "height" field.

Is my data saved?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser: no information is sent to or stored on our servers.
