Editorial Standards
La Vie au Québec (vieauqc.com) is an independent, bilingual information platform. These standards describe how we produce our content and how we keep it accurate, transparent, and independent.
Last updated:
1. Our mission
We help newcomers and Quebec residents understand everyday administrative life — RAMQ, SAAQ, French-language integration, schools, housing, transit, taxes — in clear language, in both French and English. Our content is meant to be practical, nonpartisan, and verifiable.
2. Accuracy and fact-checking
We are committed to publishing accurate information. Verifiable details — figures, dates, thresholds, procedural steps — are confirmed against official sources before publication. When information cannot be verified, we do not present it as fact.
Our guides are living documents: they are updated when regulations change or new information becomes available. Every page shows its publication date and, where applicable, its last-updated date.
3. Corrections and updates
Despite our verification efforts, errors can occur. When an error is brought to our attention, we correct it as quickly as possible and update the last-updated date on the page concerned. To report an error, email us at contact@vieauqc.com.
4. Sources and transparency
We make clear where information comes from. Our guides link to official sources (departments and agencies on .gouv.qc.ca / .canada.ca) in an "Official sources" section, and our news articles cite their sources with direct links, inline in the text, at the point where the claim is made.
5. Independence
La Vie au Québec is an independent project, not affiliated with the Government of Quebec, the Government of Canada, or any municipal authority.
The site carries no third-party advertising, publishes no sponsored content, and contains no affiliate links. Access is free. No organization can buy, direct, or influence our content.
6. Artificial intelligence (AI)
We use artificial-intelligence tools to help draft, translate, and illustrate some of our content. Every such piece is reviewed and fact-checked by a human before publication: AI assists our work — it never replaces human editorial judgment on accuracy, relevance, and quality.
AI-generated illustrations are produced using paid, licensed tools. Ownership of our content is set out in our legal disclaimer.
7. Plagiarism
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. Content is written in our own words or clearly cites its origin. Facts and data from third parties are always attributed to their source.
8. Contact
