About VieauQC

What is VieauQC?

VieauQC is a bilingual platform that helps newcomers and residents of Quebec simplify everyday life. You'll find step-by-step guides, action checklists, calculators, document templates, resources for learning Quebec French, and verified information about settling in — all free.

Who is this website for?

Permanent residents, students, workers, immigration applicants, those interested in culture and learning Quebec French, anyone preparing to move to Quebec or needing help understanding Quebec administrative processes and living guidelines.

Is VieauQC free?

Yes, entirely. All guides, checklists, calculators, templates (Quebec résumé and emails), flashcards, the glossary, the personalized journey, and the dashboard are free. No credit card is required, and creating an account is optional.

How accurate is the information?

Each guide cites its official sources (Revenu Québec, Immigration Canada, RAMQ, SAAQ, etc.) at the bottom. We update content when rules change — for example, the tax rates in our net salary calculator are verified yearly. If you spot an error, use the « Report a problem » button on the relevant guide.

How often is content updated?

We publish 1–2 new guides per week and revise existing guides when laws or official procedures change. Each guide shows its publication date. Calculators are refreshed yearly with new tax rates.

Tools, templates and journey

What free tools do you offer?

Five calculators, all free and signup-free: the net salary calculator (estimate take-home pay after taxes), the residency days calculator (PR card and citizenship eligibility), the daycare cost estimator (CPE or private), the monthly budget calculator, and the currency converter. All run in the browser using the latest Quebec data.

How do the tools work?

Enter your numbers in the calculator fields, results appear instantly. No data is sent to our servers — all calculations run in your browser. Privacy by design.

Do you offer résumé and email templates?

Yes. The Quebec résumé builder creates a CV in the local format — no photo, no date of birth — that you fill in with a live preview and save as PDF. The email templates provide ready-to-copy bilingual emails for housing and job tasks: rental inquiry, job application, interview follow-up, and more.

What is the personalized journey?

The personalized journey is a short questionnaire about your situation (profile, household, budget) that generates a list of guides and steps tailored to you. It's a good starting point if you don't know where to begin. When you're signed in, your answers are saved to your account.

My account

Do I need to create an account?

No — you can read every guide and use every tool without an account. But registering (free) unlocks the dashboard: saving bookmarked guides (organized in albums), tracking checklist progress, a history of viewed guides, syncing your flashcards across devices, and saving your résumé and personalized journey.

What is the dashboard for?

Once signed in, your dashboard gathers: recently viewed guides, your bookmarks (organized in albums if you wish), checklist progress, your active-day streak, and personal stats. It's your starting point to pick up where you left off.

Is my data protected?

We store only what's needed for your account to work: your email (via Clerk for authentication), your bookmarks, your checklist progress, and — where applicable — your résumé and journey. No calculator data is ever sent to our servers. See our privacy policy for more details.

How do I hear about new guides?

Sign up for the newsletter using the form at the bottom of every page. Once a week you receive an email summary of newly published guides. You can unsubscribe in one click at any time, and no account is needed to subscribe.

Improving the site

I found an error, what should I do?

Every guide has a « Report a problem » button at the bottom. Click it, describe the issue (outdated info, broken link, unclear wording, etc.), and we'll look. We review every report.

Can I suggest content?

Absolutely. If you've gone through a process we haven't covered yet, or you have practical tips to share, write to our contact email below. We evaluate all submissions before publishing.

Contact and collaborations

How can I reach you?

By email at [email protected]. We typically respond within a few business days. For content issues, the « Report a problem » button directly on the guide is the fastest path.

Are you open to partnerships?

Yes — we welcome collaborations with community organizations, newcomer welcome services, francisation schools, and student associations. If your organization supports new Quebecers, contact us to explore options.

Do you accept media requests?

Yes — interviews, press articles, academic research on newcomer experience, or editorial collaborations. Email us with context and timeline.
