Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an hourly rate to an annual salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by the hours worked per week, then by the weeks worked per year. For example: $25/h × 35 h × 52 weeks = $45,500 per year. This calculator does it both ways.
How many hours and weeks should I use?
Full-time in Quebec is often 35 to 40 hours per week. For weeks, use 52 if you are paid for your vacation (most salaried jobs), or fewer if you have long unpaid periods.
Is this before or after tax?
These are gross amounts (before taxes and deductions). To see what actually lands in your pocket after RAMQ, QPP, QPIP, EI and income tax, use the net salary calculator.
Is my data saved?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser: no information is sent to or stored on our servers.

Author's note: when you're quoted an hourly rate in an interview, do the annual math right away — and remember to take off the tax. A “nice” $22/h full-time is about $40,000 gross, roughly $31,000 net. Comparing gross to net saves you a nasty surprise on the first paycheque.
