1. What is the BCITI card?

The BCITI card is a digital or physical resident card. It is free and mandatory to register for leisure activities and borrow books from the library.

2. Where and how to register?

You can create your profile online at brossard.ca or via the BCITI+ app. If you prefer, you can go in person to City Hall or the Georgette-Lepage library.

3. What are the accepted proofs of residence?

To validate your account, you must provide proof of residence such as a Hydro-Québec bill or a lease agreement less than three months old.

4. Useful addresses in Brossard

City Hall is located at 2001 boulevard de Rome. The library is located at 7855 avenue San-Francisco. You can activate your physical card there if needed.

The BCITI+ app is available free on App Store and Google Play, and the digital version works at both locations — no need to carry the physical card if your phone is charged.

5. What it's actually for

The BCITI card opens access to several services paid for by your municipal taxes.

At the Georgette-Lepage library: books, magazines, films, board games and even tools for borrowing.

For leisure, the card is mandatory to register for municipal-program courses: swimming, skating, hockey, dance, yoga, and several children's activities. Residents get reduced rates compared to non-residents — sometimes half-price.

Registration opens in blocks, usually 3 times a year — prepare your BCITI profile ahead so you don't miss the spots.

6. Paper or digital card: which to pick?

The BCITI card exists in two forms:

  • Physical card — barcode and member number, presented at the counter.
  • Digital version — in the BCITI+ app, scanned on screen.

Both work identically at the library, pool and municipal counters. The physical card remains useful for children without phones, for seniors less comfortable with apps, and as a backup if your phone is dead.

The digital version avoids losses, renews automatically and lets you manage several family profiles in one app. Many Brossard families use the combo: digital for parents, physical for each child tucked into the backpack.

7. Comparison: resident, non-resident, and other municipal cards

BCITI is not the only municipal card in Quebec. Each city has its own version, with slightly different rules. The table compares your status in Brossard with common practices in neighbouring municipalities of the South Shore.

Important: your BCITI card does not work in Longueuil or Saint-Lambert for leisure and pool. Each city runs its own system. That said, South Shore libraries sometimes have reciprocity agreements — ask at the counter if you want to borrow from a neighbouring city. If you move within Brossard, update your BCITI profile with the new address to avoid non-resident status during a check.

8. Frequently asked questions

The most common questions from new Brossard residents about the BCITI card: how long it takes to get the card, what happens after a move, how to add children to the account, and what to do if you lose the physical card.

How long does it take to get my BCITI card after signing up?

The digital version is usable in your BCITI+ app within 24 to 48 hours of validation, once the city has approved your proof of residence.

The physical card is printed on the spot if you go in person to City Hall or the Georgette-Lepage library — bring your proof of residence and a piece of ID. By mail, count one to two weeks. The digital version is the fastest path.

What happens to my BCITI card if I move within Brossard or outside?

Within Brossard: update your address in your BCITI+ account or on brossard.ca. Your card stays valid; only the registered address changes. You may need to upload a new proof of residence.

Outside Brossard: your resident status ends. You can keep using the card as a non-resident, but you lose the reduced rates and several services. Don't try to keep an old Brossard address — staff routinely check during course registration, and a false declaration can void your registration.

How do I add my children to the BCITI family account?

In your BCITI+ app or on brossard.ca, open your profile and use the « add a household member » option. You'll need each child's first name, last name, and date of birth, plus a proof of address showing the child lives with you (school registration document, RAMQ card, attestation).

Each child gets their own profile linked to yours. Children under 14 can usually be registered for courses by the parent; teens 14 and older sometimes need their own account to register independently. Check the age cutoff in the program guide.

I've lost my physical BCITI card: what should I do?

Don't panic — your account is intact. Fastest fix: download the BCITI+ app and sign in with your existing credentials. The digital version is immediately available; you can use it at the library and pool right away.

To replace the physical card, go to City Hall or the Georgette-Lepage library with a piece of ID. Replacement fees of a few dollars may apply. Report the loss immediately if you suspect theft, so the city can deactivate the lost card.
