The futur simple is built on the infinitive + the endings “-ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont”: “recevoir” → “recevrai”. A few verbs change their stem: “être” → “ser-”, “avoir” → “aur-”, “pouvoir” → “pourr-”, “falloir” → “faudr-”.

Common mistakes

In the present, “vous recevez” describes what happens now or usually. For a promise about next week you need the future: “vous recevrez”.
Il sera besoin d'une photo.Il faudra une photo.
“Il faut” becomes “il faudra” in the future; “il sera besoin” does not exist. If you want to keep “besoin”, say “vous aurez besoin d’une photo”.
