How much will actually land in your pocket?

In Quebec, the salary you're offered isn't what reaches your account: between taxes, QPP, QPIP and employment insurance, about 25% to 35% of gross disappears before your paycheck.

Author's note: knowing how to read a net figure before accepting a job can save months of budget surprises. In Quebec you keep more than in some provinces (QPP ≠ CPP, lower EI), but provincial tax weighs more. Always run the net calculation before you sign.

What's the difference between gross and net salary?+
Gross salary is the amount your employer offers in the contract (for example $65,000 a year). Net salary is what actually lands in your account once taxes and contributions are taken out.
What does this calculator include?+
The calculation includes federal income tax (with Quebec's 16.5% abatement), Quebec provincial income tax, QPP, QPIP, employment insurance at the Quebec rate, plus the basic personal amount, federal and provincial.
What's not included in the calculation?+
It ignores RRSP or pension contributions, union or professional-order dues, credits for a spouse, children or childcare, medical expenses, donations and tuition, taxable benefits, and self-employment income.
Is the result accurate?+
It's an estimate based on the official 2026 brackets and rates. The gap with a real paycheck is usually a few dozen dollars. For a precise calculation accounting for your full situation, use the Revenu Québec calculator or consult an accountant.
How much tax and deductions do you pay in Quebec?+
Depending on your income, roughly 25% to 35% of gross salary goes to taxes and contributions before reaching your paycheck. The higher the income, the larger the share.
Can I compare two job offers?+
Yes. Enter each offer's gross salary in turn to see the real difference in net pay. A $10,000 gross raise doesn't translate into $10,000 more in your account, because part of it goes back out in taxes and contributions.
Is my data saved?+
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser: no information is sent to or stored on our servers.
