C’est + nom avec article, C’est + jugement général, Il / Elle est + adjectif, Il / Elle est + métier

“C’est” and “il est” / “elle est” do not stand before the same things.

Use	Pattern	Meaning
C’est	+ nom avec article	introduces a thing or person with “un/une/le/la”
C’est	+ jugement général	gives a general assessment
Il / Elle est	+ adjectif	describes a person or thing already known
Il / Elle est	+ métier	states a job, with no article

If “un”, “une”, “le”, “la” comes right after, it is “c’est”.

A profession after “il est” takes no article. As soon as you add “un”, you must switch to “c’est”.
Il est une bonne idée.C'est une bonne idée.
“Une bonne idée” is a noun with an article: introduce it with “c’est”, never “il est”.
