The same processing time. Online renewals follow the same 20-business-day service standard as in-person and mail-in renewals. You can track your application's status in real time. The government also guarantees that applications are processed within 30 business days, or the passport is free.
In a hurry? People who need a passport sooner must apply in person at a Service Canada Centre or a passport office offering the 10-business-day, express or urgent service. Online renewal is not the right option for trips planned in the coming weeks.
