Exchanging contact details to stay in touch

Situation

You've been chatting for a while with someone at a party hosted by a mutual friend. The evening is winding down and you want to stay in touch.

Vocabulary

Culture note

In Quebec, texting has become the main channel between friends and acquaintances — much more than the phone call, which is often seen as intrusive if not announced ahead of time. Swapping numbers and sending a first text on the spot is the normal move to turn a good evening into a lasting connection.
