Situation

You handed your health card to reception and the doctor sees you. Beginner version: a sore throat for a few days.

    Rest, drink plenty of water, and take something over the counter for the pain. The pharmacist can advise you.

Culture note

You address the doctor as "docteur" or "docteure", and you bring your health card. Viral infections aren't treated with antibiotics: the doctor won't prescribe them for a simple virus. Saying how long symptoms have lasted helps the diagnosis.
