Ski season passes 2026-2027: pre-sales are open in Quebec

Buying a season pass before winter often costs less. A rundown of family options at Bromont, Tremblant and Le Massif.

In Quebec, skiing and snowboarding are part of winter — and for a family, a season pass bought early often works out far cheaper than a string of day tickets. The 2026-2027 pre-sales are already underway at several resorts.

Why buy now. Resorts sell their passes in a pre-sale in the fall, at a discount off the winter rate. Waiting for the first snow usually means paying more. Prices vary from one resort and one year to the next: always check the exact rate on the official site before buying.

Bromont, montagne d'expériences. Close to Montreal, Bromont offers several formulas, including family passes (minimum one adult and one child) and new "4-season" passes that add the water park and hiking. The resort advertises a discounted pre-sale running until October 19, according to its official site.

Tremblant. In the Laurentians, Tremblant offers the Tonik pass, reserved for Canadian residents, with included days and discounted tickets for friends and family. Ikon passes give unlimited access to Tremblant plus a few days at Massif de Charlevoix. Check the site for current conditions and prices.

Le Massif de Charlevoix. Facing the river, Le Massif is holding a 2026-2027 season-pass pre-sale. A family pass exists for one or two adults aged 26 and over with children aged 7 to 25 living under the same roof and in full-time studies — proof of status is required.

A beginner? Several resorts offer learn-to-ski packages combining a lesson, a ticket and rental gear. If you've never skied, start there before investing in a full pass.

Good to know for newcomers. Compare what "family" means at each resort: the age rules and proof-of-residence requirements differ. And keep equipment rental in your first-year budget — buying can wait until you know whether skiing is for you.

Craving forests, lakes, and mountains? Quebec has a vast network of national parks managed by SÉPAQ (Société des établissements de plein air du Québec). It's often the ideal starting point for a newcomer who wants to explore nature here without venturing into the unknown. Quebec's national parks ≠ Parks Canada parks. A useful bit of vocabulary: SÉPAQ's "national parks" are provincial (for example Mont-Tremblant, Îles-de-Boucherville, Mont-Orford). Can you take the REM to Montreal's airport yet? (not quite)

The airport station isn't open yet — here's what's running today and how to reach YUL in the meantime.

The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is the automated light-rail line running across the Montreal region. One question comes up often among newcomers: can you already take it to the airport? As of today, the answer is no — but the network is growing fast. The airport station isn't in service yet. According to REM, the branch serving Montreal-Trudeau airport is scheduled to enter service in 2027, once integration and testing phases are complete. The trip between downtown and the airport will then take about twenty minutes. Until then, no train reaches YUL. What's already running. Driver's licence, passport for the U.S.: two things to settle before exploring Quebec's regions by car.

Exploring Quebec by car — from Charlevoix to the Gaspé Peninsula by way of the Eastern Townships — is one of summer's great pleasures. Before you leave, two formalities deserve a newcomer's attention. Your driver's licence. A foreign licence generally lets you drive in Quebec for the six months following your arrival. After that, you need a Quebec licence. According to the SAAQ, the exchange is done by appointment with the required documents; the agency then gets back to you within a set number of business days to confirm whether you can obtain a licence or have your driving experience recognized.
