Getting to know a new neighbour
Situation
You've just moved into an apartment building. You run into a neighbour at the entrance and strike up your first real conversation — well beyond a simple hello.

Culture note
In Quebec, neighbours of similar age switch to the informal « tu » quickly — offering « on peut se tutoyer » is completely normal. And a neighbour offering a hand isn't mere politeness: neighbourhood mutual help is very real.
