The warning. Quebec's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) is asking the public not to eat (notice in French) the "Gingembre lacto-fermenté" (lacto-fermented ginger), also sold as "Gingembre au miel" (honey ginger), made by Ferme Pomme D'Amour. According to the ministry, the product was not prepared and packaged in a way that ensures it is safe.

The product involved. Glass jars with a metal lid, sold at room temperature. All units sold up to October 7, 2026 are affected. The product was sold at the farm, at 537, 3e Rang Ouest, in Honfleur, and on the company's website.

Even if it looks fine. The jar may show no sign of spoilage and no suspicious smell, and eating it can still pose a health risk. The company is recalling the product, and MAPAQ classifies the risk as "class 1." No illness had been reported to the ministry at the time of the notice.

If you have some. Don't eat it. If you have symptoms after eating it, see a health professional. For questions about the notice, MAPAQ answers by email at smsaia@mapaq.gouv.qc.ca.

Good to know. MAPAQ posts its food recall notices in the government newsroom, and you can subscribe to get them by email.
