This is not the same program as the assistance reserved for modest-income households we've already covered — that one offers a fully free heat pump, but with a limited and often full number of spots. The rebate described here doesn't depend on any income threshold: it's open to any homeowner of an eligible dwelling in Quebec.
The final amount depends on the unit's capacity: a more powerful heat pump (more BTU/h) qualifies for a larger rebate, up to a cap set by the program. The cold-climate certified model — designed to keep heating efficiently even in extreme cold — qualifies for more than double the standard model's amount, which often makes it the better choice for a Quebec winter.
One detail not to miss: the claim must be submitted within nine months of the equipment's installation date. Past that deadline, the rebate is no longer eligible — keep your invoice and installation date on hand from the start.
Good to know for newcomers. If you're moving into a home with no cooling system or an aging electric baseboard setup, a heat pump often does both jobs at once — heating in winter, cooling in summer — and this rebate cuts a good chunk of the upfront cost.
